“Nothing we do is more important than hiring and developing people. At the end of the day you bet on people, not strategies”.
Lawrence Bossidy, Former COO of GE
We have seen incredible changes in recent years regarding how, when, and why people work. Organizations dialed into their recruitment, selection, and retention process have a generous competitive advantage. At Llumos, I help you clarify your needs and evaluate against those to ensure you get the right fit. Working alongside your recruiting and talent development teams, I can help you find end-to-end solutions to build and sustain a strong talent bench.
I am certified in the most utilized assessment tools in the workplace today, including personality, business reasoning, problem-solving, emotional intelligence, and team styles. I am trained in the Topgrading methodology which leverages scorecards and in-depth interviewing as best practices. With my depth and breadth, I can create a bespoke solution to help you find the right people to lead the organization and avoid costly hiring or retention mistakes.
Today’s leaders are as vast and differentiated as the organizations they lead. Still, great leaders share some qualities: the knowledge and judgment to accelerate the organization’s forward momentum, the vision to inspire others to shared goals, and the commitment, courage, and people focus that inspire followership. Above all, great leaders possess critical self-awareness, recognizing their strong and weak leadership skills. They also have the humility and foresight to realize they need support to help them close that gap.
In a world teeming with leadership coaches, it can be challenging to sort through all the hype to find a coach with substance and the ability to help you create insight and impact. As a psychologist with an MBA, I “get” the realities of business and understand the deep drives and motivations that impact how you show up. I aim to become your trusted advisor, helping you see yourself more clearly and challenging you to make lasting, positive changes in your leadership approach. The result is leadership that maximizes your potential and creates value for your organization and your team.
You also get an endurance athlete when you work with me as a coach. That means I coach with a high degree of energy, strong goals focus, an expectation that you are self-motivated for the work, and a belief that discipline and consistent effort are essential for sustainable results. Our work will focus on meaningful change you can make, using the action-reflection cycle and accountability to ensure you’re moving forward. I expect you to be “loud and proud” about coaching, inviting in regular stakeholder feedback for real-time measures of success. The result is coaching that is dynamic and fun, with sustained behavioral change as evidence of our success.
No part of business has changed faster than teamwork. In just a few short years, we moved from in-office teams with frequent interaction to global, virtual, and hybrid teams working asynchronously almost overnight. Many business leaders today say that one of their biggest challenges is ensuring effective teams in these uncertain times.
The ingredients of team success have not changed much over time – what has changed is how those ingredients are understood and applied. I can help you gain that awareness and build solutions that make your team effective and resilient over time. While you might have previously emphasized trust and individual work product, I can help you understand the importance of interdependent work, psychological safety, and clear roles and processes to guide uncertain and rapid change. Perhaps you relied on in-person engagement and teambuilding “events” to solidify team commitments; I can help you build ongoing team dialogue and focus on technology applications that can keep your team connected, whether separated by a cubicle wall or a continent.
Great organizations will be defined by their exceptional and enduring teams. Let’s make yours one of them.
I am passionate about helping clients manage business and people challenges, often giving me opportunities to present on specific issues that may have emerged from an industry need, a global development, or an organizational imperative. I have facilitated learning sessions with groups from 5 to 500 and from executive teams to affinity groups to entire industry conference attendees. A few example topics: Hiring and retention challenges in the Post-COVID era, building global virtual teams, the particular challenges and opportunities for women in leadership, endurance leadership, and managing burnout.
My style is highly interactive and engaging, so participants leave with things to do and a system of accountability to hold them to it. To talk further about your organization’s unique needs and my capabilities, please get in touch.
